Peixes Grandes Plates from Nice
The French-Brazilian artist Mica Barbot designed and handcrafted the Peixes Grandes (“big fish”) plates in her studio in Nice. The plates are made of earthenware (a low-temperature ceramic) using the Terres Vernissées technique, a traditional method typical of the Vallauris region in the South of France. Each fish is applied by hand and then glazed. The glaze seals the surface, giving it a subtle shine while making it durable and resistant to moisture and everyday wear.

Use: The large plates are perfect for main courses and dinner settings.

Care instructions: Dishwasher- and microwave-safe. Oven use is possible but not recommended.

Dimensions: Diameter 27.5 cm.

Handcrafted: Each plate is lovingly made by hand and, unlike industrially produced items, has its own individual character and slight variations that make every piece unique.

Mica Barbot

The French-Brazilian artist Mica Barbot, born in the 1960s in Rio de Janeiro, lives and works in Nice, where she founded her Atelier Raspail in 2006. Her work is inspired by a longing for Rio, the architectural patterns of Rio and Nice, and the multilayered cultural roots of Brazil, which she weaves together with her new home on the Côte d’Azur. The result is a visual dialogue between the two cities and their cultures.
