Traditional baking heritage and modern recipes from the Emerald Isle: Irish baking looks back on centuries of tradition and remains deeply rooted in everyday life and culture. The Ireland Baking Book is dedicated to this rich culinary heritage and brings together over 80 recipes that include classic baked goods as well as modern interpretations of Irish favorites.

The recipe selection by Cherie Denham ranges from soda bread, barmbrack, and farls baked over a turf fire to scones, biscuits, and traybakes for the tea table. The traditional repertoire is complemented by contemporary creations such as cheesecake and cinnamon rolls, showing how versatile and adaptable Irish baking culture can be.

In addition to the recipes, the book offers a wealth of tips and tricks that help bring out the best in doughs, ingredients, and baking techniques. This makes the baking book suitable for beginners as well as experienced home cooks.

A baking book for everyone who wants to discover Irish baking culture authentically: More than 140 atmospheric photographs accompany the recipes and capture Ireland’s landscape and the people who live there, cook, and keep the country’s culinary traditions alive. The result is a baking book that compellingly brings together recipes, culture, and the atmosphere of the Emerald Isle.

Cherie Denham

Cherie Denham grew up in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland, where she first discovered her joy for baking in the kitchens of her grandmothers and great-aunts. The traditional recipes and rural way of life shaped her deep appreciation for Irish baking from an early age. After training at Leith’s School of Food and Wine, she worked as a private chef before founding her own catering business and cookery school. Her food writing has appeared in international magazines, and her social media posts are seen by millions of people. Cherie now lives in England with her husband and their three teenage sons. In her first book, she weaves together childhood memories with the rich Irish baking traditions that continue to inspire her.
